Following the Supreme Court decision on the Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA), there have been many responses and publications produced with countless more to assuredly follow in the coming weeks and months. The general consensus among legal experts is that while the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the entire ACA (with one notable exception), this does not exclude all other forms of legal challenge to the law, nor does it prevent repeal of the ACA by a future President/Congress. Perhaps the biggest element of the ruling was the upheld constitutionality of the "individual mandate." The only portion of the ACA struck down by the Court was the requirement that individual states expand their Medicaid eligibility in order to continue receiving federal subsidies for Medicaid. This post will continue to be updated with particularly useful and insightful links/commentary regarding the ruling as more information becomes available to us.
